In The Past 90 Years, I Grew Up With The Central Party School -- Three Genera...

In March 2023, the Party School of the CPC Central Committee, the highest institution of learning of the CPC, will soon celebrate its 90th birthday.
Spring is full of flowers and autumn is full of fruits. Over the past 90 years, a group of experts, scholars and teaching and research personnel have worked hard and made contributions to the spread of Marxist theory. They have also grown up and accomplished themselves in the hot land of the Central Party School.
At the special moment when the 90th birthday of the Central Party School is approaching, we invited three representatives of teachers of the Central Party School of different ages to tell the story of their common growth with the Central Party School in oral form.
"In 90 years, some things have changed, and some things have not changed"

I was transferred to the Central Party School in 1978 to engage in teaching. It has been 45 years since then.
At this moment, looking back at the 90-year history of the Central Party School, we have to say that great changes have taken place in many aspects. For example, our school buildings, from the private houses of Ruijin when the Marxist Communist School was founded, to the caves in Yan'an period, and to the high-rise buildings in Beijing today, are the most intuitive changes.
There are still many things that have changed, from school conditions, to the composition of students, to the teaching staff, and other aspects have undergone major changes, but I think there is one thing that has not changed, that is, "Party School surnamed Party".
In the past, there was a saying of "five old courses" in Party school teaching, that is to say, the five courses of Marxist philosophy, political economics, scientific socialism, the history of the Communist Party of China, and the construction of the Communist Party of China are the main contents of Party school teaching and scientific research. By the 1990s, with the change and development of the social situation, in order to train leading cadres of Party members who are more in line with the needs of the times, and promote the development of various undertakings of the Party and the country, the teaching layout of the Party school should also be changed in the coming 21st century.
On this basis, the then Central Party School explored and established a teaching system of "one center, four combinations", and compiled a series of textbooks of "three basic" and "five contemporary", That is, Basic Issues of Marxism-Leninism, Basic Issues of Mao Zedong Thought, Basic Issues of Deng Xiaoping Theory, Contemporary World Science and Technology, Contemporary World Economy, Contemporary World Military and China's National Defense Construction, Contemporary World Thought, Contemporary World Law and China's Legal Construction. Under the leadership of the school committee, nearly 100 professors from various departments of the Central Party School participated in the writing of a series of textbooks, and the scale of this staff is quite large. At the same time, a series of off-campus experts and leading comrades were specially invited to serve as chief editors, deputy chief editors or contributors, which greatly improved the quality and authority of the manuscript.
It can be seen that the teaching work of the Central Party School is carried out closely around the development of the cause of the Party and the country, and it has always been highly consistent with the Party Central Committee in ideology, politics and action. As a teacher of the Central Party School, no matter how the times change, we must adhere to the principle of integrating theory with practice, focus on serving the overall situation of the Party and the country, study major theoretical and practical issues, and provide theoretical support for the development of the cause of the Party and the country. This teaching policy cannot be changed.

In 1996, I graduated as a doctor and worked in the Central Party School. In the past 27 years, I have grown from a new student to a teaching and research staff, and also witnessed the rapid development of the Party School over the years. Among them, I was most impressed by the establishment of the new Central Party School (National School of Administration) in 2018.
In March 2018, according to the unified deployment of the Party Central Committee, the Central Party School and the National School of Administration were integrated to form a new Central Party School (the National School of Administration), with one institution and two brands. On the morning of April 28, the listing ceremony was held in front of the main building of the North Campus. This important event can be regarded as a new starting point in the 90-year history of the Party School.
Reform is not as simple as hanging a brand. From clarifying responsibilities to streamlining organizations, to arranging cadres, the reform has been rapidly advancing in a series of changes. Take the streamlining of institutions as an example. Both schools have unique teaching and research units and characteristic disciplines. On this basis, 14 comprehensive management departments with overlapping functions between universities and colleges have been integrated and reduced to 7. Student management departments have been integrated from 6 to 4. The total number of teaching and research departments has also been reduced from 14 to 11.
The direct effect of the streamlining and restructuring of the institution is to end the repeated configuration pattern of "two groups of people frying a pot of vegetables" in the university and the college, and also to open up space for the long-term development of the university and the college. As a front-line teacher, I really feel that the shortcomings of the past party school that emphasized theory and paid insufficient attention to administrative management and policy research have been remedied, and case teaching and situational teaching are increasing day by day, creating favorable conditions for meeting the diverse needs of contemporary cadres for theory and practice.
This year is the sixth year of the merger of universities and colleges. Over the years, the school and the college have been closely integrated into a big family. We learn from each other, exchange and learn from each other, learn from each other, grow in work and improve in experience, forming a strong joint force to promote the development of our career.

This year, I have been working in the Central Party School for 13 years. The excitement and anxiety I felt when I first entered the school are still deeply engraved in my mind. In the past 13 years, I still remember one small thing.
During my master's and doctoral studies, I was engaged in the study of Marxist classics. After working in the Party School, the change from "learner" to "lecturer" made me feel at a loss, and even didn't know how to teach such a course.
At that time, there was a project in the school, and special funds were allocated to carry out project bidding. As long as the teacher is interested in doing a good job in the bidding project, regardless of age and seniority, can sign up. At that time, I was not afraid of tigers. I signed up without thinking. Although I prepared very carefully, the closer I got to the day when I officially took office, the more I lost my mind. At this time, I thought of a senior in the industry and wanted to ask her for experience. As the old man is old, I thought I had little hope, but she immediately agreed after listening to my idea on the phone, and even offered to come to my office to listen to my lecture. I talked for a whole hour and a half that time, and basically showed the content of lesson preparation completely. The older generation listened to me patiently, pointed out the shortcomings, gave suggestions, and imparted experience, which has benefited me a lot so far.
I think this is one aspect of the fine tradition of the Central Party School. Although the Central Party School is 90 years old, she is not old and faltering. Generation after generation, the Party School has been handed down from generation to generation, and has given its best to the younger generation to make the younger generation want to act, dare to act, and have something to do, so that the Central Party School will always be shown to the public with a youthful and upward attitude.
In the new era, the people's congress of the Party School has a promising future and a broad development stage. This requires us to live up to the golden signboard of the Central Party School, continue to tell the story of China and the story of the CPC, and contribute to the Party's cadre education.
