Shandong Ship Crosses The Busi Strait And Conducts Its First Western Pacific ...

According to Taiwan media reports such as "Central News Agency" and "United News Network" on April 5th, the Taiwan Defense Department stated on the evening of the same day that "based on its monitoring and reconnaissance intelligence," the PLA Shandong carrier formation has crossed the Busi Strait and conducted its first Western Pacific navigation training through the southeastern waters of Taiwan Island.
The Central News Agency reported that the movement of the People's Liberation Army's Shandong carrier formation occurred during Tsai Ing wen's "transit" to the United States and meeting with members of Congress such as Speaker of the United States House of Representatives McCarthy.
The Taiwan defense department claims that "during the process, our naval and air forces, as well as land-based radar systems, were fully aware of the trends and closely monitored"; John Kirby, the strategic communication coordinator of the White House National Security Council, did not confirm this news at the briefing on the 5th, but also claimed that "the US will closely monitor", "the US will always ensure the necessary capabilities and resources to maintain peace and stability in the Indo Pacific region", and "there is no reason for China to overreact".
According to the Fujian Maritime Safety Administration on April 5th, at 9am on that day, a fleet of maritime law enforcement vessels led by the large cruise rescue ship "Haixun 06" in the Taiwan Strait departed from the Fujian Maritime Safety Administration's Pingtan Maritime Supervision Base, launching a joint cruise inspection special operation in the central and northern parts of the Taiwan Strait.
According to the Fujian Maritime Safety Administration, the "Haixun 06" ship is the first large-scale cruise rescue ship in the Taiwan Strait. It was officially listed as a Fujian Maritime Safety Administration vessel in Pingtan, Fujian on July 11, 2022, mainly used for carrying out tasks such as maritime traffic cruise supervision and emergency rescue.
According to a report released by the Joint Staff Supervision Department of the Japanese Ministry of Defense on April 5th, the Maritime Self Defense Force discovered the Chinese Navy's 052C missile destroyer "Changchun" (hull number 150) moving northwest at around 8pm on April 4th, about 60 kilometers south of Nagoya Island. It then passed through the sea area between Nagoya Island and Taiwan Island and sailed north. On April 5th, it continued to sail north about 70 kilometers west of Diaoyu Island.
The report states that on April 3rd, the destroyer, along with another frigate, sailed south through the waters between Okinawa Island and Miyako Island, heading towards the Pacific Ocean.
On April 6th, US House Speaker McCarthy and other members of Congress insisted on meeting with Taiwan leader Tsai Ing wen, who was "transitioning" to the United States, despite strong opposition and solemn representations from China. This seriously violates the One China principle and the provisions of the three joint communiques between China and the United States, seriously violates international law and basic norms of international relations, seriously damages China's sovereignty and territorial integrity, and sends a serious wrong signal to the "Taiwan independence" separatist forces.
In response, departments and institutions such as the Taiwan Affairs Office of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National People's Congress, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of National Defense, and the Chinese Embassy in the United States have expressed their solemn stance.
The spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a statement that the Taiwan issue is the core of China's core interests and the first unbreakable red line in China US relations. The conflict between "Taiwan independence" and cross-strait peace and stability is also a dead end. China will take resolute and effective measures to defend national sovereignty and territorial integrity in response to the serious and erroneous actions of the US Taiwan alliance. We once again urge the United States to adhere to the One China principle and the provisions of the three joint communiques between China and the United States, implement the commitments made by US leaders not to support "Taiwan independence", not to support "two Chinas" or "one China, one Taiwan" into action, immediately stop any form of official exchanges between the United States and Taiwan, stop escalating the substantive relationship between the United States and Taiwan, stop creating tension in the Taiwan Strait, stop "using Taiwan to control China", and do not go further and further on the wrong and dangerous path.
The spokesperson of the Ministry of National Defense stated in a statement that we firmly oppose any form of official exchanges between the United States and Taiwan, as well as any name or reason for Taiwan leaders to visit the United States. We also firmly oppose any form of contact with the Democratic Progressive Party authorities by the United States in violation of the One China principle and the provisions of the three joint communiques between China and the United States. We urge the United States to abide by its serious political commitment to China on the Taiwan issue, stop gross interference in China's internal affairs, stop official exchanges between the United States and Taiwan, upgrade substantive relations between the United States and Taiwan, and stop falsifying and hollowing out the One China principle. The Chinese People's Liberation Army adheres to its responsibilities and mission, always maintains high vigilance, resolutely defends national sovereignty and territorial integrity, and resolutely maintains peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait.
