Peng Guangneng's team once amputated the giant panda "Dai Li", who came back from the field rescue in Baoxing. Elderly giant pandas should live in a comfortable environment
How should giant pandas be fed when they enter the aging stage? Peng Guangneng said that the life organ of the aging giant panda is in a declining stage. It is necessary to strengthen nutrition, select tender bamboo and bamboo leaves, and live in a more comfortable environment.
Peng Guangneng said that, "All kinds of animals have different levels of stereotyped behavior at all ages. The so-called stereotyped behavior is the behavior of repeating a non-physiological action repeatedly and randomly. Chengdu and Wolong Panda Base are studying how to reduce and eliminate this stereotyped behavior of pandas. He showed that if a giant panda has stereotyped behavior, it can change its living environment, increase the range of activities of the panda, and provide it with some toys, or artificial Build some facilities for pandas to climb and play. "
If the panda loses its hair, it may be due to skin diseases, fungi, nutrition, parasites, bacteria and other reasons, and the veterinarian needs to take the right medicine.
Peng Guangneng said, "If the aging giant panda is to be transported for a long distance, it is necessary to do a physical examination and health assessment in advance to prevent stress reactions. This relevant base has requirements. It is necessary to prepare a relatively large cage for the panda, reduce noise and avoid violent vibration during the transportation process, feed and drink enough, and prepare some first-aid drugs."
